HYPERDUNGEON // 4D crawler prototypes
The floor of a 4D dungeon is a 3D volume. These six playable prototypes each isolate one question about slicing, moving through, and fighting in that volume. Suggested play order below — every one takes about five minutes.
Tri-Slice Movement
Does steering one avatar through a 3D floor volume via three fixed orthogonal slices feel good?
- find the thin wall that vanishes when you sidestep in another view
- break into the sealed vault (needs all three axes)
- 3 gems, then the gold exit
Slice & Intersection Lab
Which rendering mechanic makes the invisible bulk most readable?
- cycle modes with 4–8: pure slice, onion-skin ±1/±2, thick slab, x-ray
- toggle fog 9 and off-slice pings 0
- watch the magenta drone through each mode
Cross-Plane Flanking
Is being flanked through the plane you are not watching scary-fun — and is fast view-switching fair counterplay?
- stalkers approach along your collapsed axis on purpose
- read the ghost-ring pings; you can't be hit from off-slice
- kill all 6
w-Stairs & Storeys
Do w-stairs — swapping all three slices at once — read as another storey of a hyperdungeon, distinct from moving in z?
- compare blue z-ramps (one slice ticks) vs purple w-stairs (whole world swaps)
- route past the sealed corridor via the storey above
- claim the crown on storey 3
Seam-Pivot Quilt
Does seam-constrained pivoting between 2D patches feel like one coherent world — walking up cliff walls as ordinary terrain?
- pivot at glowing seams with Q/E (paper-fold)
- climb the North Cliff to the High Meadow
- 8 flowers, one on a triple seam
Rotating Single Slice
The Miegakure-style alternative: one big rotating slice. More immersive, less aware?
- rotate the viewing plane with Q/E and feel the disorientation
- toggle T for a tri-slice inset to compare directly
- same gems-and-exit goal as 01
